By now you know that I am a big fan of an engagement photo session. But why is it important?
You are already very busy. Isn’t it just one more thing you have to do and one more expense.
Here are a few reasons why you might want to fit one in:
It is a good way to get to know me.
Not everyone likes getting their photos done. Many people are uncomfortable in front of the camera. They do not know what to do. An engagement photo session is a good opportunity to get comfortable. And a good time to build rapport with your photographer.
And let me get to know you.
I like to get a sense of who my couple is. Are you quiet and reserved? Or maybe you are silly and more outgoing. What type of photos do you like? This is important because on wedding day there often is not a lot of extra time for experimentation.
How will you look in your photos?
Also it is nice to get a preview of how your photos will turn out. This is a great time to build confidence. I know how to take great photos. It will be nice for you to see them.
There are many uses for engagment photos.
You can use engagement photos in many ways. Some couples use them in their invitations or save the date cards, others can use the photos as part of a slideshow on wedding day. Or maybe you will get your favourite printed and framed.
It is a good way to spend an afternoon.
Many people tell me (often the groom) that they were not looking forward to the engagement photo session. But in fact it was way more fun than they thought. It is a good opportunity to let loose, and have some fun. A chance for you to laugh, play, dance, cuddle and kiss.
Your wedding is a celebration.
Your wedding day is special. You want to enjoy it. You do not want to worry about how you will look in your photos.
