Sometimes everyone is busy and getting my grandchildren to pose is difficult. This is a fun way that I use to get my photos while learning the ins and outs of my off camera flash, as well as practicing my photoshop skills. And of course I get some photos of my grandchildren at the same time without actually asking them to pose. It doesn’t hurt that I have a window close by for some natural light as well.
With the younger kids I make a game of it by having them hold the flash or point it at themselves, their brother or sister or cousin. If I feel especially brave I let them hold the camera as well.
I just set the camera and the flash to auto exposure. Most of the photos are pretty bad but a few are be worth working on.
